Good value for a first timer

As a first-time user, I was really looking for the best deal. I got a pretty good discount on QuickBooks Online for the first few months, which made it feel worth trying out without a huge commitment. I signed up for QuickBooks Online Payroll too, which also had an intro offer. So far, it's been a solid choice for the price, helping me track everything without breaking the bank.

QuickBooks Online works okay

I just signed up for QuickBooks Online last month for my small side hustle. It was pretty easy to get started, and I figured out the invoicing software quickly. It's definitely better than just using spreadsheets, though I wish the mobile app was a bit snappier sometimes.

Consistent service, always reliable

I've been using QuickBooks for years, starting with Desktop and now I'm on QuickBooks Online. I just renewed my QuickBooks Online Payroll this past week. It's always been consistent, which is why I keep coming back. The features are familiar, and it handles everything I need without any surprises. It's good to know I can count on it.

Reliable for my business

I've been using QuickBooks for years, starting with Desktop and then moving to QuickBooks Online a couple of years ago. This last time I added QuickBooks Time for my contractors, and it integrated smoothly, just like everything else usually does. It's consistent and keeps my books tidy, which is why I keep coming back. The customer support could be a bit quicker to respond, but overall, it's a solid tool for my business.

Good features, some setup hassle

I decided to try QuickBooks Online Payroll for my new hires, and it mostly delivered. The initial setup for integrating it with my existing QuickBooks Accounting account took a bit longer than I expected, with some confusing steps. Once it was running though, processing payroll was straightforward and the direct deposit worked without a hitch. The financial reporting features are quite robust and give a clear picture of expenses. I do think the interface could use a refresh to make it a bit more intuitive for new users, but it gets the job done for sure.

Comprehensive for small business needs

I recently subscribed to QuickBooks Online along with the Payroll Premium add-on for my small business. The initial setup was straightforward, though it took a bit of time to import all my old data from another system. The interface is pretty intuitive for daily tasks like invoicing and expense tracking. I really like the financial reporting features; they give a clear picture of my cash flow. Delivery was instant since it's software. Customer support was helpful when I had a question about integrating with my bank feeds. The mobile app is also quite useful for checking things on the go. Overall, it's a robust solution for managing business finances.

Is QuickBooks Desktop still a thing? Or is everyone just using the online version now? My internet is kinda spotty where I'm at, so I'm worried about being cloud-dependent.

S Sofia Smith 3 weeks ago
Desktop is definitely still around. My dad uses it for his contracting business. They have different versions like Pro Plus and Premier Plus.

M Matt Smith 3 weeks ago
Yeah, you can still get Desktop. It's just a different beast from Online. If your internet is unreliable, Desktop might be better, but I think most new features and integrations are focused on Online these days. Just something to consider.

Hey, thinking about switching to QuickBooks for my small biz. Heard there are often good deals. What's the best way to snag a discount when signing up?

L Lisa M. 1 month ago
Yeah, they almost always have like 50% off for the first few months. Just check their main site, it usually applies automatically.

A Alex Taylor 1 month ago
Afreek mentioned the introductory pricing, which is true. Also, if you know an accountant who uses them, sometimes they can get you wholesale pricing or a referral bonus. Worth asking if you have one!

I'm a freelancer, just starting out. Should I go for QuickBooks Self-Employed or one of the regular Online plans? Not sure what the real difference is.

J Joseph Nguyen 1 month ago
Self-Employed is super basic, good for just tracking income/expenses and mileage. If you're planning on hiring people or managing inventory soon, you'll outgrow it fast.

S Sean J. 1 month ago
Depends on your needs. Self-Employed is designed for very simple tax prep and separating business from personal. If you need full invoicing, robust reporting, or payroll, you'd want a proper QuickBooks Online plan like Simple Start or Essentials.

Hey, thinking about switching to QB Online from my current software. Is it easy to get my old data over? I'm worried about losing stuff.

J Jacob 1 month ago
Yeah, I moved from desktop to online last year. It was pretty smooth. They have a tool for it. Just follow the steps, I think it pulls most of it over.
6
S Susan S. 1 month ago
I've heard it depends on your old software. If it's another QuickBooks product, it's usually fine. If it's something else, you might have to do some manual entry for certain things, or at least clean it up after the import.

Does QuickBooks actually have a free trial? I want to test it out properly before committing to a subscription.

E Elizabeth Smith 1 month ago
Yep, they usually offer a 30-day free trial. You can try out most of the features during that time.
3
H Hannah Wright 1 month ago
Last I checked, they do offer a free trial. Just go to their website and look for the option to 'try it free'. It gives you enough time to see if it fits your workflow.

I'm a freelancer, just starting out. Is QuickBooks Self-Employed good enough or should I just go for the full Online version right away? Don't want to overpay.

J Jason D. 2 weeks ago
For just starting out and freelancing, Self-Employed is probably perfect. It's way cheaper and tracks mileage/expenses super easy. Upgrade later if you grow a lot.
4
M Matt Smith 2 weeks ago
I used Self-Employed for a bit and it was fine for basic stuff. But if you have employees or need more detailed reports, you'll hit its limits quick. Maybe start with SE and see how it goes for a few months.

Heard about bundle discounts. If I need both accounting and payroll, is it cheaper to get them together or separately?

S Sean Scott 1 month ago
Definitely cheaper to bundle. They often have specific payroll add-on deals when you sign up for an accounting plan.
6
A Amanda Scott 4 weeks ago
Bundling is usually the way to go with Intuit. You'll likely save a bit compared to buying payroll as a standalone later. Check the pricing page for the 'Plus Payroll' options.

Anyone know if the 50% off for 3 months deal is still on? I saw it advertised somewhere but can't find it now.

M Megan H. 1 month ago
Yeah, pretty sure that's their standard new customer offer. It usually pops up automatically when you go to sign up, no special code needed.
3
L Linda Sanchez 1 month ago
I just signed up a couple weeks ago and got that deal. It was just applied at checkout. They often have some kind of intro discount for new users.
